Grimdrifter was a very sad deck. But then Boin removed the Grim Harvests that made everybody sad (because they were banned) and added the happy smiling Warren Pilferers. Then he won Alt PDC 1.07 and everybody rejoiced (except for the Humans, Treefolk, Elves, Auroches, Kithkin and slivers he killed along the way, which were, of course, dead).
Boin’s winning deck, Cheery Drifter, was a Grimdrifter that added pilferers and also Foresee in place of the banned teachings.

Like Kingritz’s singleton deck this is a card advantage monstrosity. Only the lands, Prismatic Lens, Terror and tendrils main deck don’t gain card advantage. As lot of the cards that cause Grimdrifter problems were banned, such as Momentary Blink and Empty the Warrens. The red splash for Soot and Shambler were very helpful for slaughtering lots of elves, and really who doesn’t want to do that? The Gutless Ghouls were totally useless.
Baron_Sengir got second place with strawberry shortcake but Boin went through him in the finals like his deck was a dessert. That said Baron did get second place and Shortcake was a good choice with just a few bad matchups.
The metagame was somewhat different from what your esteemed writer predicted. RDW had only one player not the 25% of the metagame I was thinking it would be. The most played deck was Boffeting Boggarts with three decks but none made the top 8. In fact the top 8 had seven distinct decks (both the sticks and stones made the top eight). In other words DCI standard was a clear success with: a diverse metagame, Lots of players and a victory for me.
Next Alt PDC will probably be Auction of the People with Chris Millers Decks. Next week will be probably be nothing due to the Prerelease. Now lets take a look at power rankings shall we.
1. Boin – 5.39 With two wins and one top four in three events Boin has basically just dominates Alt PDC. Yeah, I’m that good. Please ignore my future extended performances.
2. Kingritz – 3.86 Kingritz is an amazing player. He has been dominating Futue extended with back to back victories. He created the WW deck in std that dominated the metagame for months. And he has a lot of trouble making the top 8/4 in Alt PDC in fact doing it less than half the time. However when he does top 8/4 he is a fearsome opponent with two wins and a second place.
3. GravespwnGoddess – 3.82 Gravespwn won the crazy multiplayer event and has another second to his (yes his, I was surprised too) credit. Given how few events he has played he is just .04 behind Kingritz for second place.
4/5. White_djinn – 3.67 Two second places put White djinn in a tie for fourth place. But can he pull out a victory before the season is over?
4/5. ZechMaples – 3.67 Also tied for fourth place with a win and a fourth place in just a few events the question is if he can continue to put up victories in future events.
HA! LOL! Good article, Boin! Made me laugh.. looks like grimdrifter didn’t lose much of its power even with harvest out of the picture. As you pointed out in the article, I was surprised that there weren’t more rdw as well.
