Running the Numbers #14

Ok, so I’m a little behind. The holiday hustle got the better of me last week and I wasn’t able to spit out an article, so this week I will be covering Classic PDC 7.08 & 9. Sorry if anyone was annoyed by the skip.
Hesitation. This is the theme for this weeks article. Looking over the results fromthe last two weeks, I hesitate to make many judgements at all. Not alot of info to go on with absentee decks, odd with multiple rogues, and upsets in the semi’s have all lead to some results that have me cautious about making any judgements just yet. A KAMIGAWA CARD A DAY

BPDC is coming! It will fire on [b]Monday[/b] evenings in [b]/join BPDC[/b]. Registration will be at [b]8:30pm[/b] and play will commence 30 minutes later.
In celebration and anticipation of the coming event, I have decided to create a series of mini-articles called “[url=http://www.pdcmagic.com/forums/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=633]A Kami Card a Day[/url].” For convenience, I will be publishing these mini-articles on the [url=http://www.pdcmagic.com/forums/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=633]PDCMagic.com forums[/url]. You can find them in the [url=http://www.pdcmagic.com/forums/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=633]Block Constructed forum[/url]. Stay current to read about what I believe to be some of the key cards from the [i]Kamigawa[/i] Block metagame.
Our first event, BPDC 1.01, will be held on January 14, 2008. The format will be [i]Kamigawa[/i] Block Pauper. I hope to see everyone there to help kick off the latest and greatest Pauper Deck Challenge event!

THE COMING OF BPDC

What follows, dear Paupers, is a needlessly epic justification and explanation of my forthcoming blockbuster PDC event, which will occur [b]Monday[/b] evenings in [b]/join BPDC[/b]. Registration will be at [b]8:30pm[/b] and play will commence 30 minutes later. Our first event, BPDC 1.01, will be held on January 14, 2008. The format will be [i]Kamigawa[/i] Block Pauper. I hope to see everyone there to help kick off a series with one of the smallest, if not THE smallest, legal cardpools in PDC history!

Boin Wins SPDC 4.06

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

White winnies are invading standard PDC and conquering all opposition, including Blinkdrifter which seems to have lost its steam. Not a single Blinkdrifter made top 8 while all four WW decks made it to the playoff rounds and three made top 4.
If some are upset at its domination, there are certainly a few hosts that are most grateful for WW’s domination saving more than an hour of hosting duties.

Alt PDC 1.04 The Decks, The Format, The Winners

Alt PDC made its first foray into multiplayer on Saturday. Gravespawn Goddess emerged as the victor at Alt PDC 1.04 playing Gristle, a green red deck with plenty of fat.

WE WANT UPDC

The turnout was quite low again this week. I’m starting to wonder if PDC’ers just plain don’t play Magic on the weekends. The metagame we have been seeing in previous UPDC weeks was quite impossible to get a handle on with such a small field. However, it was a breakthrough event for [b]kehmesis[/b] and MUTC — he finally snagged his first :1st:.

Gatherling Anticipation

WoCoNation has been working extremely hard behind the scenes to develop a database that will eventually house all the PDC information you could ever want or need. The ratings system (which, as you’ve probably noticed, is sorely out of date) was just the tip of the iceberg compared to what is coming. (And don’t worry, the ratings will be back soon enough, and better than ever. And WoCo has given Classic hosts a way to get all the back events into the database this time.) Pretty much all the information gathering and sharing we currently do is going to be either revolutionized or made obsolete by this new database system.
Let me explain.
