I'm really glad you posted this deck. I was working on a modern pauper decklist that I thought would be a good fit for the Soul Sister engine. I was using a Immolating Souleater combo to give me another finisher. I just can't decide if I want to stick with it or go straight Soul Sister. This article really gave me a lot to think about. Great Stuff!

I got into online poker the same way you got into MTG. Honestly, the easy money is there, just waiting to be grabbed. People know the system is rigged and play to lose. Lots of small fish the munch on, such way that you'd surely think people aren't THIS much of a fool, but they are.

I was making 1k$+ consistently on a monthly basis. Shit just wasn't even normal. If I didn't like wasting any more than I did winning, I would've made a killing. Still sometimes think about picking it up again as a real job. I hope this answers your comment.

Thanks for the awesome video content, I didn't realize it until later, but I had heard you on a podcast or two before I had ever really heard of pauper.

I'm personally a fan of Goblins...just in general. I love aggro strategies, I love having a lot of weird options and giving opponents bad decisions to make all the time...This Pauper Goblins deck does a LOT of that.

I built this deck on MTGO and I've been playing with it for a little while, I'm having a ton of fun with it. The only immediate change I'm going to make comes directly from what you said about the Jackal Familiar "I like it as a 1 mana 2/2"

I realized that personally I'd rather have a 1 of that is a 2/2 for 1 that can't block than a 2/2 for 1 that can't swing on turn 2 without a hastey 2 drop.

It's rare that it would even be an issue, but then again I didn't build a goblins deck because I like blocking all that much anyway.

I really hope you keep putting out more videos and article and doing podcasts and the like, as I have really enjoyed the fruits of your labor.

Just stumbled on this article as a magic/pauper guy. Loved your TPPS primer at mtgsalvation.

If you still check this site, did you ever grind online poker back before the DOJ shut down the big sites? You talk about grinding MTGO in much the same way and clearly understand the principles behind variance and EV in a card game.

I'm curious because there's a decent amount of crossover between the two worlds. I used to grind poker with a decent amount of success, and I'm considering getting into the grind of MTGO. I'm definitely spoiled by all the nice features made specifically for grinders at poker sites, though (like the ability to tile all your games into little windows next to one another... I doubt I could handle ten MTGO games at once like I did with poker), but I played MTG for fun as a kid and it might be nice to have another hobby that pays for itself (and then some, perhaps).

Seismic Shudders feel like should be decent, but it's more often a miss. When you consider that recent lists have 8-12 1 mana 2/2s, 2 mana 2/2s and 3/3s, you realize that shudders only kill Sledders (4-8), Bushwhacker (If it hit the board, it's done its job already for the goblin player), Matron (Not even all lists run her).

What helps against them is Sea-Gate Oracles, Steamcore Weirds, Mulldrifters. The more value creatures you have, they're going to have problem removing blockers AND committing to the board. You have mana advantage already and they can at best 1v1 you, whereas all the creatures you play puts you ahead. The more creatures you have MD, the better you're against aggro matchups like WW, Goblins, Affinity, and unlike dilluding the list with over 8 point removal, these creatures are actually relevant against control mirrors and are cheap clocks against combo decks.

Goblins was never really a problematic fight for the UR list I had (Think LSV's, with less Deep Anal / Compulsives, 4 Mulldrifters, 4 Sea Gate Oracles, etc), and once you have 12+ point removal for their little useless dudes and insane life gain, it's really just a matter of mulliganing properly and staying alive.

Your opponent doesn't seem to realize that he can just sacrifice the goblin you're bolting to get in for an extra point. You should have been at 2 at the end of G2M2 and even at 3 you were dead considering you passed the turn and opted to bolt during his combat rather than kill it on your turn so he couldn't get the extra point from sledder. Your list seems strange to me. What matchups does your list give you the edge in that the normal UR post deck doesn't? What do you board in deep analysis against? MUC I assume?

Nice article. One possible SB card I think you should include in the primer is Honorable Scout. It is insane against Empty the Warrens Storm. It generally buys you a lot of time to drop more dudes and stabilaize. It won't beat Storm by itself, but it is ridiculous.
