Perhaps never in the illustrious history of PDC has a Standard rotation been anticipated so eagerly by so many Paupers. True, this is only our third such rotation – but it is a critical and historical one. The pendulum of power is swinging – quite rapidly, in fact – from a world populated by hugely swingy control cards like Aven Riftwatcher, Mystical Teachings, and Tendrils of Corruption. When [i]Time Spiral[/i] and [i]Coldsnap[/i] fade into our memory (and the newly whole PDC Extended format), what we’ll be left with is a fast-paced, aggressive format dominated by – are you ready for this? – auras.

The Monday Mulligan: Morningtide Standard Decks

Due to the casual event at MPDC this week (which was incredibly buggy but a lot of fun) there is no Standard metagame to discuss. Therefore I will go over all decks that have done well in Standard last season and what Shadowmoor cards you will need to acquire. This way you will have some small hints to the new Standard.
Most of this you, as regulars, will already know. But I’m trying to make something I can point new players to if they want to know what to expect. I also used a lot of old material to describe the decks, because I talked about almost every deck in Standard at some point.
The Monday Mulligan: Week 23, Championship

Thirteen. Thirteen players attended the MPDC Season 2 Championship. We had twentyfive last week, why the drop in numbers? Well, never mind, the event was still a blast. Because of real life issues I couldn’t host, so stiffdiddypinky substituted for me, while I registered twenty minutes late. Hosting didn’t obstruct his play though, because stiff won the Championship, piloting White Weenie to a 4-1 record. This season’s runner up was yogev, who played Elves! to their best performance yet, a silver 3-1 record.
Also in this edition of The Monday Mulligan; no more “maby” instead of “maybe” and no more “of coarse” instead of “of course”!
