My best SPDC ever! By a wide margin at that. This is the first time I've even gone 4-0 in the swiss.
THIS DECK ROCKS. It's a wild ride for sure, though. In nearly every game, I felt like I was losing right up until the turn where it won.
Credit where it's due: The original frame of the deck is stolen specifically from this_guy_dan's Blightning_Backwards-- which, appropriately enough, was the deck that eventually took me down tonight (piloted by it's namesake, Loot_Backwards). Thanks also to my housemate, h4mmerfall-- it was his idea to use Skitter of Lizards as a way to grab that turn-1 tempo and go go GO.
Since I was using hasty guys and splashing green for Resounding Thunder, Violent Outburst seemed like a natural include. It's a little wacky-- I've cast it more than a few times without even having creatures on the field, as a pure lucksack move-- but other times it's just bananas.
I'd give you the match by match breakdown, but I didn't keep very good notes. Maybe next time...
The sideboard is a little weak. I never had the balls to bring in the 3x Breath... although that was mainly there for Turtle (-2 Blaze, -4 Terminate for +3 Breath, +2 Thunder... wait for him to tap-out, then go for the big burnout) and I didn't face a Turtle deck tonight. Hmmm... Suggestions welcome. |
