BPDC 2.05 and the Last Chance Before Worlds

Welcome back to the report of the last BPDC week before Worlds! We had a few returning deck types, as well as some exciting new ones. Read on to see how it all went down.

The Meta Continues to Change
After several weeks with several different reigning archetypes, I thought that LOR block had pretty much been exhausted. We had several HomeBRU control decks, a Merfolk combo, some Faeries, and one lonely RG Warriors , all of which have been played to some extent already this season. Along with some other tribes that saw some play, one new deck seemed to have emerged, a UGB monstrosity that one player named "Jellymoose Sandwich." These UGB builds claimed two of the top 4 slots. Here is one of the decks:

This deck is interesting because it offers an alternative late-game deck besides HomeBRU or Faeries. The idea seems to be to play dense, powerful threats, and has a little Treefolk synergy as well. The Moose himself can be more than some decks can handle. Don't forget you can gain life with Bog-Strider Ash off of those Nameless Inversions!

Warrendrifter
The top spot of the night actually went to yours truly, LordSanada. I played a UB Control deck dubbed "Warrendrifter" that I have been tweaking all season. Here is the list:

This deck can easily outlast any aggro deck that does not get a killer start, and has a great late-game plan. Footbottom Feastand Warren Pilferers are terrific; they provide that gas to win the end game.

Worlds Next Week!

Next week is Worlds, the last week of the season. The way BPDC is doing Worlds this season is by inviting anyone who "placed" (got top 4 or top 8) anytime this season. Anyone else is free to watch, but will not be able to compete. I'm sure that more details will be forthcoming, keep a look out and good luck!

Great write up, Lord Sanada! I love being featured! I like the Jellymoose decklist, but if anyone is interested in playing it, they should check out the Gleemax thread for suggested changes.

Actually... now that I see WotC has pushed back Shadowmoor, we can fit in a 2.06 this season.

Let's do that. Give ourselves one last regular season event and then hype Worlds to epic proportions.

I expect to be able to host BPDC 2.06 this Monday. But I still can't make the thread. :( Any takers?

Looks great LS! After Worlds we'll get to add Shadowmoor to the Lorwyn Block mix and see how those sets all play together! Nice new archetypes, though... the innovation isn't through!

Is there any chance somebody could make the Gleemax BPDC Worlds thread? I'm going to be AFK for the next couple days and I won't be able to make it till Sunday. The sooner the better, obviously!
